Chocs is a 16 year veteran of the classroom and is currently teaching at Seven Lakes High School in the Katy Independent School District where he is the head of the Studio VII Theatre Co. Seven Lakes is the newest school in the Katy district and now boasts a theatre enrollment of more than 220 students. Chocs now works with freshman technical theatre director Joshua Heerssen. Chocs spent his formative teaching years in the Alief school district where he made many life long friendships. During his years in Alief, Chocs was honored with the award of Teacher of the Year while at Albright Middle School for the 1995-1996 school year. That same year Chocs was recognized as a district finalist for Secondary Teacher of the Year. While he will always consider Alief family, he is thrilled to be in the Katy district.
Chocs has numerous acting and directing credits from Baytown Little Theater, which he credits for inspiring his love of acting and teaching theatre. Chocs is a long time member of TETA and has presented numerous times at Summer Workshop and Convention. Chocs is thrilled with the duties of his new position on the K12 board and looks forward to a very successful January convention in Dallas.
