The first ever Fine Arts Summit, sponsered by the Texas Education Agency and Educational Service Center (ESC) Region 20 was held in San Antonio June 13th and 14th. Many Fine Arts educators presented their ideas on how the Fine Arts Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) can be implemented and used to strenghten Fine Arts instruction in our state. TETA was well represented at this summit. Many thanks goes out to Ann Batten-Bishop, Beverly Burnside, Robert Klekar, Pam Wilson, Kris Andrews, and Betsy Cornwell as they presented areas of implementing the TEKS, and showing a model classroom lesson. A huge thank you goes to Mr. Thomas Waggoner, Fine Arts Director, Texas Education Agency for his devotion to the Fine Arts, and making the first Fine Arts Summit a success as well as for his work on the production of the Fine Arts Video Series.
