College/University Committee


The purpose of the CU shall be to advise the TETA in all matters concerning educational theatre in colleges, universities and other continuing education levels.

The aims and objectives of the CU shall be:

1. To encourage the continuation of quality post-secondary theatre education in Texas.

2. To facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among post-secondary education in Texas.


Membership is open to all members of TETA by indication of preference.

The Business Meeting of the CU shall take place at the Annual TETA Convention.

SCHOLARLY and DEBUT PAPERS PROJECT (SDPP)

Objectives

1. Promote high standards of academic research, scholarship, and writing for theatre students.

2. Provide a forum for presenting scholarly papers which have been produced in the course of academic study.

Activities

1. Submit a call for scholarly papers in the Texas Theatre Notes – submission deadline – NOVEMBER 1

2. Convene a panel of adjudicators to jury the scholarly papers.

3. Hold a session at TheatreFest – winners will present papers and lead discussion.

4. Honor the winners at TheatreFest Awards Banquet.

TEACHER TRAINING NETWORK (TTN)

Objectives

1. Promote high standards of teacher preparation for theatre education.

2. Facilitate the dissemination of information. (Legislative mandates, state certification standards, TEA rules and documents.)

3. Encourage the sharing of ideas and instructional strategies.

4. Promote in-service workshops sponsored by TETA and/or Regional Education Service Centers.

5. Encourage retraining programs for those interested in teaching theatre.

Activities

1. Conduct seminars and symposiums for network members.

2. Share instructional methods and materials.

3. Share information regarding employment opportunities for graduating students.

4. Plan and facilitate/conduct in-service workshops at the TETA convention and in conjunction with Regional Education Service Centers.

5. Share information regarding evening, weekend, and summer theatre education courses.

6. Work with the Scholarship Committee Chair to promote and adjudicate the TETA Founders’ Scholarship in Theatre Education.

TEXAS THEATRE JOURNAL (TTJ)

Objectives

1. Promote high standards of scholarly work in theatre research, scholarship, and writing.

2. Provide a printed forum for scholarly papers produced by theatre professionals.

Activities

1. Submit a call for scholarly papers in the Texas Theatre Notes.

2. Convene a panel of adjudicators to jury the scholarly papers.

3. Create a printed volume of scholarship to be shared with libraries and the TETA CU membership.
