Call for Papers
Texas Theatre Journal, published by the Texas Educational Theatre Association, welcomes manuscripts on a variety of topics through articles, documents and book reviews related to Theatre and the Performing Arts, with emphases on history, criticism, theory, K-12 pedagogy, interviews, op-ed pieces, performances reviews, and book reviews with an emphasis on the State of Texas. Articles in Spanish are published side-by-side with English translation. Interdisciplinary topics especially are welcomed, as is research projects by graduate students.
Articles received by 1 November will be considered for the January 2007 issue.
Electronic submissions in WordPerfect® or Microsoft Word®. Hard copies accepted in duplicate. Use Chicago Manual of Style.
The inaugural 2005 issue featured a previously unpublished William Saroyan play, Death Along the Wabash, with a commentary on its original 1961 production; an article on George Bernard Shaw as businessman, and a rare interview with Adrian Hall, legendary director and one of the founders of the American Regional Theatre Movement.
The 2006 issue includes an interview with prominent casting director Donn Finn and articles on middle school theatre and gender, disabled actors and theatre, Italian castrati, Thornton Wilder and Gertrude Stein, Ntozake Shange, Elizabethan theatre copyright, Renaissance dance, plus intermissions on Texas film actor John Boles and Mumming and a book review on Stephen Greenblatt's Will in the World: How Shakespeare Became Shakespeare.
